Christmas, Christmas Time is here (in my Chipmunk voice)

It's been a while since I made a post, so this is what happens, YOU GET 2 (or more) posts in one day.  LOL.  I just had to show everyone my first Christmas tree in the new house.  We had no idea it was going to be so tall, but it works for us.  The colors are purple (my fav), teal and silver.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE SIMMONS'...

By the way:  Just thought I'd throw out there that I really want a KitchenAid mixer underneath this tree in the near future!  Doesn't matter who gets it, as long as it appears.

Home Improvements

The house is now undergoing some changes.  I mentioned this in an earlier post, and I promised to post pictures soon.  Well soon is relative, LOL!  Anyway, the room over the garage was never completed during construction, and it was always in our plan to add more square footage to the house.  I just didn't know we would be doing it so soon.  Anyone who knows my husband knows that once an idea is in his head, he won't rest until it is finished.  So we (really just he and his dad) got started with insulation and sheetrock.  I'm happy to say they have come quite a long way in just a matter of weeks.  The plan is to be done by the new year, or shortly thereafter (a more realistic goal).

Life update

Hello everyone! I just wanted to give an update of what's going on in the life of the Simmons'.
As for me, I'm finally working again. I work for a family clinic in Wilson NC. This is a totally different experience for me. I am supervising a staff of 3, and I feel like an adult who is finally working a real job. I'm learning more and more everyday!
As for Antonio, he's found a new love... The iPad. He takes it everywhere he goes and talks about it all the time. He is also attempting to do some home improvement with the help of his dad. Looks like I'm going to get my craft room sooner than later. I am super excited! I will keep you guys updated.

The both of us are yet again adjusting to running a household where both of us work. Keep us in your prayers!

Settling in...

Hi all.  It's been three wonderful weeks of marital bliss for me..... well honestly, most of the days of the 3 weeks have been great.  I won't lie and say we haven't had some minor disagreements with adjusting to living together.  It's natural that our schedules were totally different: he has his routines, and so do I.  I absolutely love this home though, and I'm super excited about being able to make it "OUR" space.

This is my our home.  Excuse the grass needing to be cut.  It's been raining the last few days.

... but look, I don't have to run from the driveway to the front door in the rain anymore.  Whoohoo for a garage.  LOL

So as most of you know, I'm not working yet, which is an adjustment in itself.  I've has a job since I was 16yrs old.  Most days I'm done doing everything by 1pm, but I love being able to have a home cooked meal ready when my husband gets off work, cleaning, grocery shopping, and decorating this house.  You guys will probably see many posts of my projects in the near future.

I AM GOING TO START POSTING MORE SINCE I HAVE A DEDICATED COMPUTER SPACE AND SETUP!

We are Married Now!

I know it's been a few weeks since I last updated my profile, but cut me some slack.... I did just make the biggest commitment of my life.  Yes, I said "I DO" to the man of my dreams, and I meant it!  LOL

I am so pleased at how this wedding turned out.  We were surrounded by so many people who love and care for us (and probably some who were just there to spectate).  I absolutely LOOOOVED my dress.  The cake was terrific, and our bridal party was phenomenal, especially my girls.  They made things go a lot smoother for me.  I laughed, cried, danced, hugged, and smiled the day away.  It was AMAZING!

The infamous dress

Me and my gorgeous mommy

The fed me and dressed me, and took me to the bathroom after I put on my dress.  LOL

After the wedding, comes the honeymoon.....(insert your story, LOL).  It was very fun.  HHHOOOTTT, but fun.  That's all the details you get about our honeymoon

Now it's time to get back to reality.  I'm so excited to see what the future holds.  I'm excited because I know I've married someone who loves me as much as I love him.

Tying up loose ends...

Things are definately starting to get real for me.  I gave my two week notice at work, and I'm beginning to pack up my things and move on from this place in life.  Although I'm excited about the new things, I do often have a hard time letting go of things from the past.  It's a bittersweet moment for me, and I suspect it will be a bittersweet 2 weeks since I'm prolonging the process.

Goodbye UNCG, coworkers, and friends!  I'll miss you all.

Family!

July 4th was a great weekend for us.  After not seeing each other for more than a week, we got to spend some much needed time together.  We also got to spend some quality time with very important people in our lives.

the only picture I got before our date on Friday

Friday night we went out with a great couple, who also happens to be Antonio's cousin and best friend.  I think the night was perfect!  Dinner, shopping, and we even got to see some fireworks in Durham.  I'm sure this is the first of many dates with them, because we love them to LIFE!
Both of us come from fairly small nuclear families, he has one brother, and I have one sister.  It's only obvious that we would value their opinions in the mate we are choosing to spend the rest of our lives with.  With everything going on, we've not had a lot of chances to just spend quality time with our siblings together, but that all changed this weekend as well.  Friday and Monday, we spent time with Tyrone (his brother), and Sunday, we did dinner with Venita (my sister).  All turned out to be great experiences!  Ty even lifted my "pending" status into the family (LOL).  Even Venita, in her very own way, opened up a little more than normal.  We are so blessed to have these 2 very special people in our lives, and we look forward to sharing many life experiences with them both.

Here they are!  We both love you!

**I promise I'm going to get better about taking pictures.  I'm still adjusting to this blogging thing.**

Time to Reflect!

Antonio and I are coming upon our first anniversary of the day we met, and the day we went out on our first date.  What better time to reflect on the past AMAZING year.
We met Sunday, July 18th.  It's a day I won't ever forget because it was the day after my mom's 50th surprise birthday party that had me exhausted.  I went to my church (Refuge Temple Church) as I do every Sunday.  I'll admit,  I thought I looked pretty cute that day, but never expected to meet my future husband.  I sang in the choir, and service went on as usual.  After service, I had a meeting so I remained in the church sanctuary.  Meanwhile, outside the church a young man from Goldsboro, NC talked with a distant cousin of his.  It was during that conversation that he would ask her who was the girl in the cream and brown suit.  He also expressed interest in wanting to speak with me before he left to return home.  His cousin came inside the church to get me.  She brought me outside the church, and introduced the two of us, and as quickly as that all had happened, she disappeared.  This young man, who I would later find out was named Antonio, took complete control of the situation and began talking to me, and the rest is history.
I never thought that this meeting would lead me to where I am today.  Over the past year, I've found my absolute BEST FRIEND in the world.  We talk to each other, support each other, and love each other very much.  There have been many events and occasions that we've shared just in this short amount of time.  The one that is most dear to me was being able to spend a major holiday with he and his family.   I've also attached so pictures of us and our prize winning gingerbread houses.

There were surprises such as my birthday, and THE ENGAGEMENT.  There have been ups and downs, but I am convinced that it's all been worth it.  I look forward the the rest of our lives together!

Trying something new!

My name is Sherita, and I'm super excited to be starting my very first blog.  I was inspired to do so by the many blogs of friends and family.  I've secretly wanted to start one for a while, but felt there wasn't enough going on in my life to keep people interested.  All of that is changing... hence the name of my blog.
I AM GETTING MARRIED in exactly 51 days.  I'm very excited and overwhelmed at the same time.  I hope to keep everyone updated throughout this process, as well as our adventures as a newly married couple.
Let me start by introducing you to my fiance, Antonio.  Great guy, and I love him SOOOO MUCH!
And beside him, that's me Sherita.  We are set to be married Aug 13, 2011.
